The draft law (No. 11407) amending Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families” was generally supported by MPs.
The document states that military personnel captured as prisoners or hostages, as well as those interned in neutral states or missing in action, will continue to receive financial support until the circumstances are fully clarified. However, this support will cease on the day the military personnel is removed from the military unit’s personnel lists.
It is anticipated that servicemen will be able to independently determine which family members will receive their financial support in the event of their capture or disappearance.
To accomplish this, the serviceman must prepare a personal order that specifies the percentage of the designated individuals’ share and submit it to the commanding officer of the military unit or the commanding officer of the subdivision.
In the absence of a personal order, financial support will be paid in equal shares by the order of priority.
